Alissa Demian

 

This year will be Alissa’s 2nd year teaching at Gate City and her 16th total as a dance teacher. She‘s participated and studied in dance in hip hop, jazz, contemporary, tap, ballet and musical theater at Jeanette Neill in Boston, the Dance Complex, as well as taking part in workshops for teachers provided by National Competition Venues. She has taught ballet, tap, contemporary/lyrical, hip-hop, jazz, creative movement and musical theater. While teaching

at Exeter High School, she established and coached a Dance Team that participated in competitions and performed at basketball and football games. She has

also choreographed dance routines that have competed and won Choreography Awards, Top 5 duet and solo placements, group routines that have placed in the top 10 , and that have been recognized for special judges’ awards. She also co-choreographed the mini-production pieces Wonka and Jungle Book. She is a graduate from the University of New Hampshire, where she received a BS in Family Studies and a minor in Dance. She later earned a Special Education K-12 Teaching Certification and currently works at Elm Street Middle School.
